Hit the Pavement
Boyne Valley Trailway
Easy | 6.3 miles | Boyne CityThe Boyne Valley Trailway is a paved, non-motorized pathway that connects Boyne Mountain directly to downtown Boyne City, following the historic route of the old Boyne City, Gaylord & Alpena Railroad along the Boyne River. Gentle grades, plenty of shade, and a rewarding endpoint. Perfect for all ages and ability levels. Bike rentals are available at the resort.
Little Traverse Wheelway
Easy to Moderate | 26 miles | Charlevoix to Harbor SpringsOne of the most scenic paved bike trails in Michigan, the Little Traverse Wheelway connects Charlevoix, Petoskey, and Harbor Springs. Much of the trail skirts the water with open bay views, and is considered one of the most beautiful stretches of paved trail in the state. Park in Petoskey and ride in either direction, or tackle the full 26-mile point-to-point.

TOMMBA
The trails we ride don't maintain themselves — and in this corner of Northern Michigan, that work falls to TOMMBA.
The Top of Michigan Mountain Bike Association is a nonprofit serving Charlevoix and Emmet Counties, with a mission to create, enhance, and preserve trail experiences for riders of all levels. One hundred percent of membership dues go directly to developing and maintaining sustainable mountain bike trails.
Get Dirty
The dirt around here is worth getting into. Northern Michigan has developed a legitimate mountain bike trail network spanning conservancy preserves, city parks, and a full bike park.
Avalanche Preserve

Boyne Forest Trails
Beginner - Intermediate | 7.5+ miles | Boyne CityJust north of Boyne City off Erickson Road, the Boyne School Forest trail system is a local favorite with a mix of flowing singletrack and more technical features. The system connects to additional trails on the adjacent Walloon Lake Trust and Conservancy property for even more mileage.
The Highlands Bike Park
Beginner - Expert | 22 miles | Harbor SpringsOutside Magazine named Harbor Springs one of America's 10 best bike towns, and The Highlands is a big reason why. Twenty-two miles of trails spanning green to double-black, all accessed via high-speed lift. Beginners can build confidence on flowing green trails while advanced riders chase technical lines, drops, and jumps on the harder terrain. Bike and helmet rentals available on-site.
Offield Family Viewlands
Beginner - Intermediate | 5.2 miles | Harbor SpringsThe Little Traverse Conservancy opened 5.2 miles of purpose-built flow trail at the Offield Family Viewlands in 2024 — flowy singletrack with modern features, most of which have optional go-arounds. Working with roughly 500 feet of elevation, the views of Little Traverse Bay from the high points are spectacular. Multi-use trail open to hikers and Class 1 e-bikes as well.
Tanton Trails
Beginner - Advanced | 7 miles | PetoskeyThese purpose-built trails were designed by the same company behind the nationally renowned Copper Harbor trail network. Three loops ranging from beginner to advanced wind up the side of what was once known as Christmas Mountain — flowy, sandy singletrack with switchbacks, berms, and real climbing. Multi-use and open to Class 1 e-bikes.
