After All These Years: The Tradition of Late Season Skiing at Boyne Mountain
While some places have packed away their skis and boards, Boyne Mountain is still rocking the slopes. And not just a little bit. Thanks to our incredible snowmaking team, we're talking serious late-season turns on Victor Glacier.
Speaking of late-season turns, let's throw it back a bit. Way back on May 5, 1996, a guest named Priscilla Sweet from McBain became a bit of a legend herself. The Traverse City Record-Eagle snapped a photo of her skiing down Boyne Mountain in her bikini because we were still open for riding.
29 years later, Priscilla came back for more on May 11, 2025, making those legendary turns once again. Still rocking the bikini, of course! That’s the kind of dedication we love to see at Boyne Mountain.
"I'll ski anywhere, anytime. I'll ski in August," said Peggy Konsza, of Linden. "Everybody I work with thinks I'm deranged."

This kind of late-season awesomeness isn't just luck. We've been seriously investing in our snowmaking upgrades. We're talking top-of-the-line tech that lets us pile up the snow and keep the season going strong long after other places have called it quits.
The whole idea for the Victor Glacier came from another resort over in New England that is known for its late-season snow. But let's be real, at Boyne Mountain, we took that idea and ran with it. Our first season with the Victor Glacier, we officially surpassed their efforts. Yup, Boyne Mountain is THE place to be for spring turns.
So, while the rest of the world might be thinking about switching to flip-flops, we're still making memories on the mountain. Come get your last turns in, or maybe even start a new late-season tradition. The Victor Glacier is waiting.
