Team Boyne's Junior Race Program offers weekly training for skiers ages 6–14 with a foundation in skiing who are ready to take their skills to the next level. The program focuses on slalom and giant slalom race formats alongside USSA SkillsQuest challenges — building race technique and all-mountain ability from the ground up.
Programs
Team Boyne 101
Team Boyne provides weekly training for U10, U12, and U14 ski racers ages 8–13, with a Junior Program built around developing fundamental skills from the ground up. Training runs for nine weeks, with two sessions per week—Thursday nights and Sunday mornings, each two hours long—with additional membership add-ons available for a more customized experience.
To participate in Junior Racing, skiers must be able to ski, turn, stop, and ride the chairlift independently. Not quite there yet? Our Mountain Masters and Mountain Minis programs are the perfect place to start.
U14 and Younger athletes can compete in area Club Races, including:
- ASA Invitational - Schuss Mountain
- Nordica Winter Rally - Nubs Nob
- Volkl Cup - The Highlands
Additional registration fees apply to each race. Depending on team participation and individual race rules, some team members may be required to complete a qualifying run in their age group.
All athletes should have required equipment purchased, tuned, and binding-checked by mid-November.
All of this gear can be purchased used. Our team is here to help make this sport accessible and affordable — and fellow Team Boyne race families are an excellent resource for gently used gear.
- Required: Snow jacket & pants, FIS-approved helmet with hard ear guards, goggles, slalom skis, GS skis, poles
- Recommended: Chin guard, shin guards, pole guards, mouth guard
- Permitted: Race suit, back protector
SkillsQuest is exactly what the name suggests—a journey toward success in competitive skiing and snowboarding. Rather than focusing solely on race results, the program zeroes in on the fundamental skills that make up a high-performing athlete. Learn more at usskiandsnowboard.org.
