FIRE EVACUATION PROCEDURES

The Mountain Grand Lodge has been engineered to meet and exceed fire codes, so there is little chance of a fire occurring. For your own peace of mind and for your safety in case there is a fire, please read the following information carefully:

PLAN AHEAD:

• When checking into your suite, be sure to know where the fire exits are so that you can locate them in the dark.

• Locate the fire alarms and extinguishers located on your floor.

• If your family is with you, arrange a meeting place outside of the Lodge so you will know everyone is safe.

• Keep your suite keycard where you can find it quickly.

IF YOU FIND A FIRE:

• Remain calm.

• Pull the nearest fire alarm.

• Call the hotel’s emergency number (Touch 7901) and give your
exact location.

• Do not attempt to extinguish the fire. Evacuate the area immediately.

• The Boyne Mountain staff and fire department personnel will assist you in your evacuation efforts.

IF THE FIRE ALARM SOUNDS:

• Remain calm.

• Take your suite keycard with you.

• If smoke is present, crawl or stay near the floor, air is freshest.

• Test the doors for heat before you open them. If the door is hot, do not open the door. If the door is cool, open it carefully, looking for smoke. If there is smoke outside, close the door immediately.

• If the hallway is clear, quickly head towards the nearest exit. Do not use the elevators.

• Exit with caution. Test the door for heat before opening and watch for black smoke in the stairwell.

• Do not leave doors open.

• If the fire exit is unsafe or begins to fill with black smoke from below, take the stairwell up and find a clear hallway in which to cross to the opposite fire exit; then proceed down and out of the building. If this is impossible, return to your suite and remain calm.

IF YOU MUST STAY IN YOUR SUITE:

• Call the Boyne Mountain emergency number (Touch 7901) to let the operator know of your exact location.

• Keep exterior doors or windows closed to prevent smoke from being drawn into your suite.

• Immediately fill the bathtub with water. Use an ice bucket or similar object to drench the carpet with water.

• Place wet towels, sheets or blankets under the door to your suite to keep smoke from entering.

• Cover any air vents with a wet cloth.

• Keep a wet cloth over your nose and mouth to filter out smoke.

• Place something in your window to let fire personnel know you are still in
your suite.

• Leave your suite door unlocked if possible and remain calm.

TORNADO EVACUATION PROCEDURES

In the event of a tornado emergency the National Weather Service will issue a “Tornado Warning” to all local radio and television stations for broadcast. Guests should proceed immediately to the Mountain Grand Lodge basement in the event of such an emergency.

ONCE THE EVACUATION ORDER HAS BEEN GIVEN:

• Immediately proceed to the nearest stairwell. Do not use the elevators.

• Proceed completely down the stairwell to the basement level. Do not exit outside the building.

• The Boyne Mountain staff will assist you to “safe” areas of the Mountain Grand Lodge.

IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO LEAVE YOUR SUITE:

• Call extension 911 and give the operator your exact location.

• Seek refuge in the bathtub placing pillows and blankets on top of you to protect from flying debris.

• The Boyne Mountain staff will attempt to reach your location and aid you in evacuating to a safe area of the Mountain Grand Lodge.

EMERGENCY EXITS

In the event of a fire or other emergency, please go to the nearest stairwell exit as shown on the back of your suite door. Do not attempt to use the elevators unless instructed to do so by rescue personnel.

The Mountain Grand Lodge Emergency Number is “0”
For any Medical or police emergency dial 911.
