Visitors Guide
Welcome to Boyne Mountain Resort
You're about to experience one of northern Michigan's most legendary resorts. Boyne Mountain doesn't do boring. We've been perfecting the art of four-season fun since 1947, and we're pretty darn good at it.
This guide will help you navigate everything from where to park to what to pack, so you can spend less time planning and more time playing.
Trip Planning
When to Visit
Winter kicks off in mid-November when our snowmaking team fires up the guns. We typically open around Thanksgiving, but Mother Nature calls the shots on how much terrain we can open right away.
Peak season runs from December through February, with holiday weeks filling up fast. Want to avoid the crowds? January weekdays are prime time for fresh tracks without the lift lines.
Pro move: March is our secret weapon. The weather is warmer, the snow is still prime, and you can snag a spot at the base to work on that late-season tan.

Late-season skiing just got a serious upgrade. Thanks to our snowmaking system upgrades, we're keeping runs covered longer and better than ever before.
While other resorts are watching their bases melt away, we're still going strong on Victor Glacier well into spring.

Tuned Tip

What to Pack
Michigan winters are cold, but they're also gorgeous. Here's what you need to stay warm and look good doing it:
Layering is everything. Think thin and technical, not bulky and cotton.
- Base Layer: Long underwear, moisture-wicking long-sleeve shirt, and ONE pair of ski socks (doubling up actually makes your feet colder)
- Mid Layer: Fleece or down for extra warmth
- Outer Layer: Waterproof ski jacket and pants (leave the jeans at home)
- Accessories: Helmet, goggles or sunglasses, waterproof gloves, neck gaiter, and a hat that covers your ears

Don't let missing gear ruin your day. Swing by Boyne Country Sports to replace anything you left behind.
Lay of the Land
Boyne Mountain is compact and easy to navigate, but here's the lay of it:
The Village is home base. This is where you'll find the Clock Tower Lodge, Civic Center, Mountain Grand Lodge, and most of our dining and shopping. Everything is within walking distance, and if it's not, our shuttle or a chairlift ride will get you there.

The Mountain
has 60+ trails spread across 415 acres, offering everything from mellow groomers to steep mogul runs and gladed tree skiing. Whether you're making your first turns or chasing adrenaline, there's terrain with your name on it.
The base area is where the action starts: grab a quick bite at Forty Acres or Mountain Express Deli, pick up your rental gear at the Civic Center, and meet your Snowsports School instructor at the Helga Haus. Everything you need is right there.

Avalanche Bay Indoor Waterpark
is connected to the Mountain Grand Lodge. At 88,000 square feet, it's Michigan's favorite indoor waterpark and stays a perfect 84°F year-round.

SkyBridge Michigan
sits at the top of the mountain and stretches 1,200 feet across the valley. Take the scenic chairlift to get there. From November to March, SkyBridge Michigan is decked out in over 200,000 twinkling lights.
