Welcome to Boyne Mountain

summer evening at the beach house

Four-season fun has been our thing since 1947. Summer at Boyne Mountain means mountain biking, championship golf, a 88,000 sq. ft. waterpark, and the best of northern Michigan — all in one place.

This guide will help you navigate everything from where to park to what to pack, so you can spend less time planning and more time playing.

When to Visit

Summer at Boyne Mountain runs from mid-May through Labor Day weekend, with peak season in July and August. Holiday weekends and mid-July fill up fast, so book early to lock in your preferred lodging and tee times.

Pro Move
June and early September are northern Michigan's secret weapons. The weather is perfect, the trails are prime, and you won't be fighting for your favorite tee time.

The Highlands Bike Park typically opens in late May. Check their website for official opening dates and early-season trail conditions.

What to Pack

Summer Essentials

Northern Michigan summers are warm but can surprise you. Here's what you need to stay comfortable across all the adventures:

  • On the mountain: Moisture-wicking shirt, comfortable shorts or pants, closed-toe shoes (required for biking), and a helmet. Full-face helmets available at bike rentals.
  • On the course: Collared shirt, golf shoes or athletic shoes. Dress code applies at The Alpine and The Monument.
  • At the waterpark: Swimwear, water shoes, and a change of clothes. Towels and lockers available at Avalanche Bay.
  • For evenings: A light layer — temperatures in northern Michigan drop after sunset, even in July.
  • Always: Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a refillable water bottle. Hydration matters more at elevation.
