70 Hour Mountain Challenge: What You Need to Know

Wednesday, January 9-Saturday, January 12

A single dollar and 40 acres of land was just the beginning for our resort pioneer, Everett Kircher. Now seven decades later, we celebrate the weekend that put the first skiers at the summit of the famed Hemlock.

Boyne Mountain is proud to host the 70 Hour Mountain Challenge when the lifts will spin for 70 hours straight. The Challenge starts Wednesday, January 9 at 4pm and concludes Saturday, January 12 at 2pm. Here's what you need to know about the Challenge:

  • Event registration is $125 which includes a 4-day lift ticket or $25 for season passholders and those who already have lift tickets. Discounted 4-day lift tickets (Wednesday - Saturday) are only available online when you sign up through the event website before Wednesday, January 9 at 3pm.

  • Already purchased a lift ticket? No problem! Guests who have purchased all-day lift tickets will be able to enjoy the mountain from midnight-11:59pm on the date the ticket was purchased for.

  • Season passholders can join the fun, too! Gold and Silver passholders can participate by registering for the event at $25/person. Bronze passholders who wish to ski/ride on Saturday, January 12 need to purchase a single-day lift ticket.

  • Ski or ride for as long you want, when you want! You don't need to be on the mountain for 70 hours in order to participate.

  • Guests can ski/ride during the event, but are highly encouraged to make a $25 donation.  All $25+ donators receive a commemorative hat, pin, complimentary Everett's IPA (21+ only), and entry to win raffle prizes including a custom pair of Shaggy's skis! There are also prizes for individuals and teams with the most runs completed. Donations collected online or on-site at the Challenge Mountain booth.

  • Runs are being tracked using SkiTraxLite, a free app that can be downloaded to any smartphone. The app uses GPS to track the number of runs completed as well as more fun statistics like maximum speed, distance, and vertical. Participants can report their progress by showing their app to the volunteers at the Challenge Mountain tent in the Civic Center so that their runs can be updated on the leaderboard. Charging stations will be available in the Civic Center and Eagle's Nest. There are also outlets located throughout the resort for those who wish to bring their own charging cables.

  • Boyne Mountain's first chairlift, Hemlock, will be the only lift open midnight-9am during the event. Mountain Express will run 9am-midnight.

  • Resort dining locations will be extending their hours during the event. Live music and fun parties throughout the event will keep the energy high for all!  Click here for hours and menus.

  • 100% of the registration fees and lift tickets sold through the event website benefit Challenge Mountain, where individuals living with disabilities enjoy adaptive recreational opportunities, like adaptive skiing, biking, and horseback riding. Click here to learn more about Challenge Mountain.
