An Up North Fourth
Step aside Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Year's...we're about to declare the Fourth of July one of our favorite days of the year (the first day of ski season is hard to beat). Forget caroling in the cold, overeating while the Detroit Lions lose (again), or waiting for a ball to drop in a crowded city - the Fourth of July is where it's at.
While other holidays mandate travel to far away family and cooking up feasts to feed twenty hungry mouths, the fourth is a day dedicated to summer fun.
In fact, we'll take things one step further and say this -
The best place to spend the Fourth? Right here in northern Michigan.
Fourth of July spent right here in our backyard is summer in its truest form - filled with parades, beaches, hot dogs, fireworks, and more. With your choice of crystal clear lakes and sandy beaches, plentiful festivals and events, and firework displays lighting up every corner of the sky, this region was meant for the Fourth.
The possibilities of an Up North Fourth are limitless, so here's a few of our favorite ways to celebrate the day:
Spend the day paddleboarding on the smooth, warm waters of Deer Lake or kayak the Boyne River.
Head to the Boyne City Farmer's Market and cook a feast filled with all the flavors of summertime.
Roam the shores of Lake Michigan to hunt down the region's most coveted stone - the Petoskey stone.
Ride the ferris wheel at the National Cherry Festival and soak in the stunning view of the bay.
Watch the parade through the streets of Petoskey.
Play a round of golf on The Alpine with some friends.
When it comes to the Fourth of July in northern Michigan, you really can't go wrong. And at the center of it all, Boyne Mountain Resort is the perfect launch pad for the day.
Make this year's Fourth an Up North Fourth and see for yourself!
